While the basic type disk contains partitions, extended partitions, logical drivers, and an number of static volumes; the dynamic disk does not use partitions, but dynamically manages volumes and provides advanced storage options that makes it possible to have an unlimited number of logical drives. Another difference between basic and dynamic disks is there is no Master Boot Record (MBR) on a dynamic disk.
Such type of data allocation can be useful in some cases, but it has always been a real problem for backup data kept on dynamic disks.
